Lista de verificación de limpieza para las fiestas: cómo preparar tu casa para recibir invitados
Publicado: octubre 31, 2026
Hosting for the holidays means more people, more cooking and more mess in less time. Whether it’s Thanksgiving dinner, a December open house or family staying for a week, the trick is to clean in stages instead of trying to do everything the night before. This holiday cleaning checklist breaks the work into what to do two weeks out, the week of, the day before and after everyone leaves, and shows where a one-time professional clean saves you the most time.
Two to three weeks before: plan and book
Holiday weeks are the busiest time of year for house cleaners. If you want help, book first and clean second.
- Book your cleans early. Pick a date two or three days before guests arrive for the main clean, and a date right after they leave for the reset. Open dates go quickly in late November and December.
- Decide which clean you need. If your home hasn’t had a thorough clean in a few months, book a limpieza profunda. If it’s in good shape, a standard limpieza de la casa is enough.
- Walk through as a guest would. Start at the front door, go to the guest bathroom, the guest room and the dining area. Write down what bothers you. That’s your priority list.
- Declutter the surfaces guests will see. Clear entry tables, kitchen counters and the dining table now, so cleaning later is faster.
The week of: room-by-room holiday cleaning checklist
Entryway
- Shake out or wash the doormat and add a second mat inside for winter boots.
- Clear the coat closet and add empty hangers for guests’ coats.
- Wipe the front door, handle, light switches and any glass panels.
- Sweep the porch and steps, and plan a boot tray if you get snow.
Cocina
- Clear out the fridge before the big shop. Throw away expired food and wipe the shelves so there’s room for leftovers.
- Clean the oven before you roast anything. A dirty oven smokes at high heat. (A Cleanster Deep clean includes the inside of the oven and fridge. On a Standard clean, you can add them as extras.)
- Degrease the stovetop, range hood and backsplash.
- Run the dishwasher empty with a cleaner, and check you have enough serving dishes, glasses and utensils.
- Empty the trash and recycling and keep spare bags nearby.
Guest bathroom
- Scrub the toilet, sink, tub or shower, and clean the mirror and fixtures.
- Put out fresh hand towels, an extra roll of toilet paper in plain sight, hand soap and a plunger.
- Empty the bin and add a liner.
Guest room
- Wash the bedding, even if it’s “clean”, because stored sheets pick up a musty smell.
- Dust surfaces, vacuum under the bed and clear a drawer and some closet space.
- Leave a towel set, a phone charger and the Wi-Fi password.
Living and dining areas
- Dust shelves, TV stand, picture frames and light fixtures. Holiday lighting shows every speck of dust.
- Vacuum sofas and under cushions, and vacuum or mop floors.
- Wipe the dining table and chairs, and check table linens for stains.
- Clean glass on doors and interior windows that face your guests.
The day before: the quick reset
If the big clean is done, the day before is about touch-ups, not scrubbing. Give yourself 30 to 60 minutes:
- Wipe kitchen counters and the guest bathroom sink and mirror.
- Vacuum high-traffic areas and the entry.
- Empty all trash cans.
- Set up a drop zone for coats, bags and shoes.
- Run the dishwasher and empty it so you start with a clean rack.
During the visit: keep it under control
- Clean as you cook. Wash prep bowls while things roast.
- Keep a “landing” bin for stray items and empty it once a day.
- Do a 10-minute kitchen and bathroom reset each night before bed.
- Put a second trash bag at the bottom of each bin so the next one is always ready.
After guests leave: the post-holiday clean
This is the clean most people skip, and it’s the one that makes January feel calm. Strip and wash guest bedding and towels, clean the fridge of leftovers, wipe down the oven and stovetop, vacuum and mop floors, and spot-clean any spills on rugs or upholstery as soon as you find them. If you hosted a big group or the house took a beating, book a deep clean for the day after. It costs less in effort than a week of catching up.
What a one-time holiday clean costs
Cleanster shows you the price before you book, with a 2-hour minimum. A 2-hour standard clean starts from $122 and a 2-hour deep clean starts from $126. Prices vary by location, home size and clean type, and Peak Pricing can apply on busy dates, so booking early or picking a weekday can help. See home cleaning pricing for how your price is worked out.

Holiday cleaning checklist FAQ
How far ahead should I book a holiday house cleaning?
Two to three weeks ahead is a good rule for late November and December, because popular dates fill up. Book the after-party clean at the same time.
Should I book a deep clean or a standard clean before guests arrive?
Book a deep clean if your home hasn’t had a thorough clean in a few months. If it’s already in good shape, a standard clean plus a few extras is usually enough.
When should the cleaner come?
Two or three days before guests arrive. That leaves time for touch-ups, and the house still looks fresh on the day.
Can a cleaner clean my oven and fridge before the holidays?
Yes. A Deep clean includes the inside of the oven and fridge. On a Standard clean, add them as extras when you book; each extra adds time to your booking.
Is there a minimum booking?
Sí. Cada reserva de Cleanster tiene un mínimo de 2 horas.
What if something isn’t right?
Tell us within 48 hours with photos under our Happiness Guarantee, and we’ll work with you to make it right.
