House Cleaning App: How to Book a Background-Checked Cleaner in Minutes

A good house cleaning app should do what a phone call to a cleaning company can’t: show you the price before you commit, let you pick the cleaner, tell you when they’re on the way and keep every receipt, photo and message in one place. Most maid service apps look alike on the download page. The differences show up when you try to book, change a date or fix a problem. Before you download any cleaning services app, check that it gives you:

• Upfront pricing. You should see the full price, including fees and extras, before you tap Book. No quote calls, no “we’ll confirm the total later.”
• A choice of cleaner. The best apps let you browse profiles and ratings, or rebook someone you already like.

• Arrival windows and live tracking. You want to know when the cleaner is on the way, not wait by the door all day.

How to book a house cleaning in the Cleanster app

Here’s what booking looks like, start to finish. It usually takes a few minutes.

1. Choose your service. Open the app, tap the service picker and choose House or Apartment & Condo.
2. Enter your address. Confirm it or pick a saved address. Cleaners only see your general area until they’re booked with you, and the next screen shows a map of cleaners near you.
3. Pick the type of clean. Standard, Deep, Move-Out or Luxury. Apartments also have Make-Ready. Tap what’s included on any option to compare checklists.
4. Pick a date. Home cleanings have an arrival window of 8 AM to 8 PM, and your cleaner arrives within that window.
5. Pick your cleaner. Browse the Marketplace tab, switch to My Cleaners to rebook someone you’ve had before, or tap Skip and let Cleanster choose for you.
6. Set the details. Rooms, bathrooms and hours (the app suggests a time), how often you want cleaning, and whether you’ll provide supplies. For apartments and condos you can add notes and photos, such as a building access code or parking info.
7. Add extras. Inside the oven or fridge, windows or laundry. A Deep clean already includes the inside of the oven and fridge; on a Standard clean they’re extras.
8. Tell us about pets. This helps cleaners with allergies know what to expect.
9. Review and book. Check the Booking Summary, choose a payment method, add a promo code if you have one, and tap Book.

What you can do in the app after you book

Track your cleaner

Open your booking on the day of the clean. A map shows your home and your cleaner as they travel, with an estimated arrival time, and the progress bar moves from On my way to Arrived, Cleaning and Done. Reschedule or cancel

Rescheduling is free from the booking menu, up until your cleaner is On My Way. Cancelling is free until 24 hours before your cleaning. A $20 fee applies within 24 hours, and a booking cancelled within 12 hours isn’t refunded. The full rules are in our cancellation and refund policy.

Set up a recurring plan

Choose Weekly, Bi-Weekly, Every 3 weeks or Monthly when you book, and the app schedules the rest. You can skip a visit by rescheduling or cancelling it ahead of time, and change how often from Billing > Plan. Plans have a minimum of 10 cleanings. See how recurring cleaning plans work.

Rate and tip

Tips for getting the best clean from a cleaning service app

• Book enough hours. The suggested time is a good starting point. If your home hasn’t been cleaned in a while, choose a Deep clean or add time.
• Use the notes. Parking, gate codes, pets and the rooms that matter most. Clear notes save your cleaner time on arrival.
• Clear the clutter. Cleaners clean surfaces; they don’t sort mail or put away laundry. A 10-minute pick-up before they arrive means more time on actual cleaning.
