How to Clean a Laundry Room Fast: A 10-Minute Routine for Professional Cleaners
公開日: 11月 5, 2026
The laundry room is one of the smallest rooms on a house clean, and one of the easiest to rush or skip. Clients notice when it’s done well: a clean lint trap, a fresh-smelling washer and a floor without detergent drips. This guide shows professional cleaners how to clean a laundry room fast, in 5 to 10 minutes, with the right order, the tricks that save time and the safety checks that matter.
The golden rule: get the machines working first
Machines work while you work. If the client has booked laundry, start that load the moment you arrive, before you clean anything else in the house. By the time you reach the laundry room, the washer is done and ready for the dryer, or the dryer is ready to fold. If laundry isn’t booked, don’t run a load. Stick to the job the client booked.
Work the laundry room in a loop with the rest of the house. Most cleaners fit it in between the kitchen and the bathrooms, or do it last on the way to the entry, so the floor dries while you pack up.
Step 1: Clear and sort (1 minute)
- Pick up anything on the floor: socks, hangers, empty detergent bottles.
- Put loose items on the counter or shelf where the client keeps them. Don’t throw away anything that isn’t clearly trash.
- Never move or sort papers, cash, jewelry or anything valuable left in pockets or on the dryer. Leave it where the client can see it.
Step 2: Spray first, then walk away (1 minute)
Spray the washer and dryer tops, the control panels, the outside of the doors and any utility sink with all-purpose cleaner. Let it sit while you do the dry jobs. Use a cloth sprayed with cleaner, not the bottle, on control panels and touchscreens. Liquid and electronics don’t mix.
Step 3: Do the dry jobs while it dwells (2 to 3 minutes)
- Lint trap: pull it out, roll the lint off with your fingers, and wipe the slot opening with a dry cloth. Keep a small bag or bin for lint so it doesn’t float around the room.
- Dust high to low: shelves, the top of the cabinets, light fixtures and the vent cover. Then the tops of the machines.
- Fold or hang what’s left in the dryer if the client asked for it. Fold like with like and leave it neatly stacked on the machine or shelf.
Lint isn’t just about looks. The U.S. Fire Administration found that failure to clean was the leading factor in residential clothes dryer fires, at 34%. A clean lint trap on every visit is a small habit that matters.
Step 4: Wipe the machines (2 minutes)
- Wipe the tops, sides you can reach, doors and control panels with a folded microfiber cloth. Fold it into eight so you always have a clean face.
- Front-loader gasket: pull back the rubber seal and wipe inside it. Mold and gunk hide there. Leave the door open a crack afterward so it can dry.
- Detergent drawer: wipe the drawer and the opening. If it pulls out easily and the client’s routine allows, rinse it in the utility sink.
- Wipe the dryer door rim and the washer lid underside, where detergent drips collect.
Step 5: Sink, counters and shelves (1 to 2 minutes)
- Scrub the utility sink and faucet, then rinse and dry.
- Wipe folding counters and shelves. Wipe drips off detergent bottles before you put them back.
- Line up products with labels facing out. That one detail makes the room look finished.
Step 6: Floor last (1 to 2 minutes)
Sweep or vacuum, getting the gap at the front of the machines with a crevice tool if you have one, then mop toward the door. Don’t pull heavy machines out to clean behind them. If that area needs attention, mention it to the client or note it in the app.
Time-saving tricks for laundry rooms
- Dryer sheets: a used dryer sheet picks up dust and lint from machine tops and baseboards in one swipe.
- Keep a lint bin: a small trash bag in your caddy for lint saves trips.
- One caddy, one trip: bring everything for the room at once. See our cleaning caddy supplies list.
- If it isn’t dirty, don’t clean it: a shelf that’s clean just needs a quick dust, not a full wipe-down.
- Suggest the monthly reset: on recurring cleans, tell the client that an empty hot cycle with white vinegar, or the washer’s own cleaning cycle, keeps odors away. Only run it if they ask and the manufacturer allows it.
Safety in the laundry room
- Never mix bleach with vinegar, ammonia or other cleaners. Laundry rooms often have several products side by side, so use one at a time.
- Keep detergent pods and chemicals up high if the home has children or pets.
- Don’t spray cleaner into control panels, outlets or behind machines where cords run.
- Put out a wet floor sign or tell the client when the floor is wet.
Report it, don’t fix it
If you find a leak under the washer, a damaged dryer vent, a burning smell, mold on the wall or signs of pests, stop and report it in the CleansterPro app with photos. Don’t try to repair hoses, vents or appliances yourself. A quick photo and note protects you, and it helps the client fix the problem before it gets worse.
Final walkthrough
- Lint trap cleaned and back in place.
- Machine tops, doors, panels and gasket wiped.
- Sink rinsed and dry, products lined up.
- Floor done, nothing left on it.
- Light off, door left the way the client prefers.
- Before-and-after photos taken if the job needs them.
